Installing A New Dishwasher
This article describes the installation of a dishwasher in a newly-built house. This procedure also applies to a newly remodeled kitchen. Replacing a dishwasher is quite similar, except that the old appliance needs to be removed first. That may require turning off a circuit breaker and shutting off the hot water supply.

Installing A Sump Pump
While water that collects in a basement may originate from several possible sources, almost all such problems can be corrected. While a pump doesn't cure the disease, it goes a long way toward treating the symptoms. I completed this project over a period of a month. It is a great project that you can tackle when you have an hour here and there, unless water is pouring in.

Rain Barrel to Toilet Installation
My solution was to relocate my rain barrel on my back porch and then hook it up to my downstairs toilet. This configuration sets the rain barrel about 8 feet above the toilet. When flushed, gravity refills the toilet with rain water from the barrel.

Fixing a Running Toilet
Steps: 1 Turn off the water at toilet's shut-off valve. 2 Remove the rubber flapper from flush valve inside the tank. 3 Inspect flapper for damage or discoloration. 4 Check location of float on chain; adjust float to height of water level. 5 If adjusting float doesn't solve problem, or if there is no float, install a new flapper. 6 Flush toilet and check to ensure new flapper creates watertight seal with flush valve.
